The music styles featured on "Temnota" are drumfunk and drum and bass (dnb).

Temnota is darker than the usual Pinecone Moonshine sound. As a collection it should come across more sanguine, or optimistic despite the harsh timbres and somber, slow moving notes.

Paluca's title track, Temnota, starts with a low rumble and a sustained chord. The drums are broken with stutters, pauses, and other changes ups like some of the breakier late '90s Drum and Bass. Two minutes into the mix, the sub bass clearly comes through supporting the heavy kick drums.

Simon Bean's Adaptations combines harsh resonating tones with a jazzier break that has machine-like sequencing as if the pattern is falling down and restarting. Bass sounds that squelch through holes in the rhythm add to the broken feeling.

Which Way by Acid Lab and Paluca starts with low piano notes and ominous strings which abruptly stop when the drums begin. The rhythm is steady in the Tech Step style with different drum sounds being layered in for variation. In the second part, a half-time section changes the vibe to something laid back before dropping back into the fast-paced rhythm.

Dot Product's Five People sits in the odd time signature of 9/4. Following in line with the broken, programmed feel of the other tracks, Five People also weaves synthetic percussion and snippets of voices into the pauses of the main drums. The harmony loops and distorts until eventually it fades out leaving just percussion and bass.
