[PCMSNT011] Nic TVG - California

The title track, California, is Drum and Bass built from surf music and outdoor field recordings. The drum samples are coarse and muted, damaged from dust and scratches on the source recordings. The harmony drifts into being quite discordant at times but the overarching tone mixed with rolling pattern of the drums keeps the track uplifting.

The first half of And the Houses Burn is a distorted bass drone and jazz hi-hats with a few samples and vocal excerpts. In the second half, sparse kick and snare drums rise up with the strumming of off key bass guitar.

The final track, The Invisible Man Won't Cross the Street Alone, returns to the chopped Amen break and heavy, pitching-down bass notes. The melody, made up of humming, blends into the harmony and makes for an ambient track among all the drum switch ups.
